Rockwell Collins Venue™ selected by Jet Aviation Basel for BBJ

CANNES, France (Feb. 22, 2012) Rockwell Collins, the first company to bring high-definition (HD) entertainment solutions to business jets, has been selected by Jet Aviation Basel to retrofit its Venue™ HD cabin management system on a narrow-body Boeing Business Jet (BBJ2).

The announcement was made today at the First Annual Business Jet Interiors World Expo in Cannes, France.

“Venue has quickly become the most selected HD cabin system in all market segments, with more than 120 installations ranging from turboprops to large VIP jets, and Jet Aviation’s selection of it further supports its popularity,” said Dave Austin, vice president and general manager, Cabin Systems for Rockwell Collins. “Both operators and passengers greatly benefit from Venue’s modern user interfaces, its unmatched flexibility in third party product integration, and its highly reliable fiber optic backbone.”

“An important part of Jet Aviations’ completions strategy is to be the front runner in high quality cabin technology and outfitting. Part of this strategy is to provide our customers a Cabin Management Systems (CMS) that supports the wide variety of advanced audio and media applications and systems.  Today’s market has several CMS options which are extremely competitive. After a detailed selection process, the Rockwell Collins Venue systems commercial appeal and technical capabilities was considered by us as the perfect fit for our narrow body program here at Jet Aviation,” said Neil Boyle, Vice President Completions Center at Jet Aviation Basel.

The Venue retrofit on Jet Aviation’s BBJ2 will mark the first BBJ to be equipped with the system’s newest enhancements, including:

Touch-screen displays that simplify cabin control and present HD video

  • An intuitive, personal 10.6” HD touch-screen monitor allows passengers to easily control cabin functions and view entertainment right from their seat.
  • A 10.6” HD galley touch-screen monitor allows flight attendants to easily manage Venue’s entertainment and environmental settings.

Touch-screen personal seat controls

  • An easy-to-use 4” personal programmable switch panel incorporates a touch-enabled LED backlit screen that supports swipes and gestures to select lights and audio/video content. The touch-screen switch can be dynamically changed on the fly to function as a VIP switch and can display flight information such as time to destination and local time.
