Rockwell Collins awarded three-year support contract for teleport at Ramstein Air Base in Germany
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (January 19, 2010) - Rockwell Collins, through its recent acquisition of DataPath, Inc.*, has been awarded a three-year, $9.1 million contract
to provide maintenance and field service support for the Ramstein Air Base satellite communications teleport operated by the
U.S. Air Force.
The competitively awarded contract continues the company's support of the Ramstein teleport and the Defense Transportation
Reporting and Control System (DTRACS). The contract calls for Rockwell Collins to provide maintenance services for the teleport
along with providing remote monitoring of U.S. convoys in Iraq. The teleport will be supported by nine field service engineers.
Program Manager WIN-T's Commercial SATCOM Terminal Program at the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth,
N.J., awarded the delivery order through the Worldwide Satellite Systems contract.
The teleport is a vital Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) hub for military communications. It links military X band
networks with commercial Ku band networks to enhance overall bandwidth capacity and provide network-centric, high-bandwidth
capabilities to U.S. forces. Rockwell Collins designed, engineered and built the C band, Ku band and DTRACS Deployable Ku
Earth Terminals at the Ramstein facility.
"Rockwell Collins is committed to building on the high level of service and support that DataPath established for the teleport,"
said Kent Statler, executive vice president of Rockwell Collins Services. "We have a longstanding relationship with the Air
Force and look forward to meeting and exceeding their requirements for this program."
