Rockwell Collins adds iPod® integration to IFE offerings
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (October 07, 2009) - Rockwell Collins today announced a new feature to its digital in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems that allows passengers
to output audio and video to the in-seat displays and headphones from Apple's iPod® and other portable media devices. The
announcement was made at World Airlines Entertainment Association (WAEA) Annual Conference & Exhibition taking place this
week.
The new integration feature is available on Rockwell Collins' Digital Total Entertainment System (dTES®) and Enhanced Total
Entertainment System (eTES®) for twin aisle aircraft.
"We understand it is becoming increasingly important for passengers to bring their own entertainment devices with them as
they travel," said Tommy Dodson, vice president and general manager of Cabin Systems for Rockwell Collins. "Our solution complements
our dTES, and eTES systems by allowing passengers to take advantage of the systems' superior display and audio capabilities,
while allowing them to truly personalize their entertainment experiences while they fly."
The new integration feature, which includes USB charging capability, works with iPhone, iPod Touch, iPod Classic and iPod
Nano as well as other popular portable media devices.
Rockwell Collins' dTES solution provides an upgrade from analog tape to high-quality digital audio and video sources. For
